Marrakech Medina · The Mellah
Another Marrakech, romantic and dreaming.
Five rooms and one very romantic suite steps from the Bahia Palace — each named for the world of Saint-Exupéry. Step through the door and the clamour fades: a patio, a plunge pool, and light sliding across the zellige.
The house
A riad that opens its doors
onto another Marrakech.
Hidden in the southern reaches of the medina, in the historic Mellah quarter — just steps from the Bahia Palace and the bustling Place des Ferblantiers — Riad Dar One opens onto a quieter Marrakech, where the city’s pulse fades behind thick earthen walls. All that remains is the rustle of leaves, the murmur of water, and sunlight pooling gently across the zellige.
Restored in the spirit of its founder, the architect Sophie Raynal, the riad embodies what she called the simplicity of luxury: authentic materials, considered light, a quiet refinement. Five rooms and one suite, each with its own character — and its name borrowed from the world of Saint-Exupéry: Dune, Mirage, Oasis, Petit Prince, Saint-Exupéry, Sirocco.

Rooms & suites
Five rooms, one suite,
each with its own star.
Dune, Mirage, Oasis, Petit Prince, Saint-Exupéry, Sirocco — sand or chocolate tadelakt, blue or honey alcantara: each room takes its name from the aviator's world.
Table & services
The life of the house, to the patio's rhythm.
An excellent chef prepares, on request, a traditional Moroccan dinner from fresh market produce — and lunch at noon should you wish. In summer life unfolds in the patio, by the pool; on cooler evenings the fireplace-warmed salon takes over for intimate dinners.
In the evening the table is set by candlelight —
before the fireplace, or beneath the stars.

On the roof, a bed beneath the stars
Above, the sky; below, the half-light.
Up on the roofs, a sprawling terrace unfolds across several spaces — daybeds beneath shade sails, a bar for fresh-fruit cocktails, and a dining corner where the Koutoubia and the peaks of the Atlas blaze at dusk. Hammam rituals and massages are arranged through trusted local partners.

The collection
Chez Sophie, houses to live in.
In 1995, Sophie Raynal, then an architecture student at the Beaux-Arts de Paris, fell in love with Morocco during a trip to Marrakech. She undertook the renovation of several houses in Marrakech, Oualidia and Tangier, guided by a demand for authenticity — a true aesthetic vision.
Sophie is no longer with us, but she passed on to her family and her team the values born of her sensitivity and her humanism. All of this, you will feel during your visit.
